jody Weis to Walk Police Superintendant

Police Superintendent Jody Weis is leaving the Chicago Police Department Tuesday and his replacement will be Terry Hillard, a former CPD superintendent.

Hillard will replace Weis on a temporary basis, according to Alderman Anthony Beale, a member of the city councils’ police and fire committee. Beale said Hillard is “just going to be there to keep things status quo.” Read more…

Demonstrators blocked roads to a main port in northern Oman and looted a nearby supermarket yesterday, part of protests to demand more jobs and political reform that have spread to the sultanate’s capital.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release information to the media.

Police killed one protester in Sohar on Saturday. Hundreds have rallied at the town’s main roundabout, demanding higher salaries, jobs for unemployed youth and the dismissal of some government ministers.

”Earthquake Shakes Hawaii ”

Honolulu has felt a minor earthquake centered 22 miles east-southeast of the capital of Hawaii.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.6 temblor struck at 2:12 p.m. on Thursday in between the islands of Oahu and Molokai.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The Honolulu Star Advertiser is reporting the initial reporting discrepancy may be due to the scarcity of seismic recording instruments on Oahu. The cause of the quake may have been set off by the ocean floor flexing under the island’s weight.
