Indonesian Volcano Erupts Again, Bigger Than Before
The number of people forced to be evacuated due to the eruption of a volcano in Sumatra island, Indonesia, may rise to 34,000, spokesman of National Disaster Management Agency Priyadi Kardono said on Monday.
On Monday, more than 27,000 people have escaped their homes, he said.
The smoke from the eruption has also disturbed the flight from western area toward main airport, Palonia, in North Sumatra province, Airport Duty Manager at Polonia airport Agus Maulana said.
“Today a plane operated by Susi Air from Sibolga cancels flight to Polonia because of the smoke,” he told Xinhua over phone from the province.
The 2,400-meter high Mount Sibabung erupted for the second time on earlier Monday and spew ash and smoke up to more than 2,000 meters high and they keep enveloping the sky by Monday afternoon. (more…)
An LDS View On Glenn Beck & The ‘Restoring Honor’ Rally
Conservative commentator Glenn Beck says his revival-style rally at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday was about restoring America’s honor and returning the country to the values on which it was founded.
Tens of thousands of people showed up for the event, which also featured former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Beck insists the rally was nonpolitical, but the event, which took place on the 47th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, and in the same place, was not without controversy.
The message: Support the troops; return to God.
Beck said his role was to wake America up to the backsliding of principles, values and most importantly, faith. His speech took on a spiritual tone as Beck urged the country to “turn back to God.”
“Look forward. Look West. Look to the heavens. Look to God and make your choice,” he said.

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi said Tuesday Bushehr nuclear power plant would be run in mid September.
“If nothing special happens and the process of reviewing equipment is fulfilled successfully, the facility is run in mid September and the fuel will be loaded into the reactor,” he told ISNA.
“The plant is undergoing the final sets of experiments for detection of any possible failure,” he said adding, “the preliminary phase will be completed in less than two weeks and the plant will be ready to be launched.” (more…)

Gisele Bundchen responds to controversy over her breastfeeding comments: ‘I am not here to judge’
Gisele Bundchen has taken to her blog to back down from controversial comments she made about breastfeeding in an interview with the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK.
Bundchen, who welcomed son Benjamin with husband Tom Brady last December, has raised the ire of critics after remarking that there should be a “worldwide law” demanding that new mothers breastfeed for the first six months of their baby’s life.
The 30-year-old supermodel — the world’s highest-paid catwalker — prompted raised eyebrows after she spat contempt at mothers who give their newborns formula.

NEW YORK — Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player to hit 600 home runs and did it with style, driving a pitch into Yankee Stadium’s Monument Park in center field exactly three years to the day after his 500th homer.
A-Rod reached the milestone Wednesday after a 12-game drought with a first-inning homer off Toronto’s Shaun Marcum. Rodriguez connected with a 2-0 pitch over the middle of the plate for his 17th home run of the season, giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead on a sweltering summer afternoon.
By hitting the homer into Monument Park, a stadium worker could retrieve the ball for him.

A new season of The Rachel Zoe Project premiered last night, and it featured Demi Moore and a giraffe because…well…reality TV Mad Libs, we suppose. Anyway, our favorite part came when Rachel and her newly promoted style director Brad were perusing the look book in preparation for the shoot.
In anticipation of tomorrow’s premiere of the third season of The Rachel Zoe Project, Rachel Zoe stopped by Live with Regis and Kelly this morning to talk unisex Fall trends and her new collection. Zoe, ever the stylist, used the hosts to show off some of her favorite items — but with one catch. 17 Globemaster III aircraft has crashed in Alaska at the Elmendorf Air Force base. The crash occured early on Wednesday evening (local time) at about 18:14. According to initial reports, four crew members were on board the aircraft C-17s have survived missile attacks in Iraq and pilot mishaps in Aghanistan without casualty in recent years, including a surface-to-air hit in Baghdad in 2003 and a 2009 incident at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan where a C-17 landed on its belly – with its landing gears disabled.
