MUHAMMAD (P.B.U.H)

The reason why there is no picture of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
why is it that there isn’t a picture available of the prophet Muhammed[pbuh] anywhere in the world?

Islam came to prevent all means that may lead to shirk or the association of others in worship with Allaah. Among these means is the making of images, so sharee’ah forbids making images, and curses the one who does that, and a strong warning is issued to the one who does that. It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah the Mother of the Believers that Umm Habeebah and Umm Salamah mentioned a church that they had seen in Abyssinia, in which there were images. They mentioned it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and he said: “Those people, if there was a righteous man among them and he died, they would build a place of worship over his grave and put those images in it. They will be among the most evil of creation before Allaah on the Day of Resurrection.” (narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-Salaah, 409).

Pakistan blocks YouTube and Wikipedia after Facebook

The Pakistani government blocked access to YouTube on Thursday because of “sacrilegious” content on the video-sharing website, signaling a growing Internet crackdown against sites deemed offensive to the country’s majority Muslim population.

The move against YouTube came a day after the government blocked access to Facebook amid anger over a page on the social networking site that encourages users to post images of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. The page sparked criticism because Islam prohibits any images of the prophet.

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority did not point to specific material on YouTube that prompted it to block the site, only citing “growing sacrilegious contents.” The government took action against both Facebook and YouTube after it failed to persuade the websites to remove the “derogatory material,” the regulatory body said in a statement.

U.N. Bhutto Probe Charges Cover-Up by Musharraf Govt
UNITED NATIONS, Apr 16, 2010 (IPS) – Who killed Benazir Bhutto, the popular Pakistani leader and first female head of state in the Muslim world – al Qaeda or the Taliban or the country’s military leadership, which has enjoyed the backing of the United States for the past several decades?

There may never be a definitive answer, but a new report made public by an inquiry commission established by the U.N. last July suggests that all these entities had something to do with Bhutto’s Dec. 27, 2007 assassination after leaving a campaign rally, two weeks before general elections were due. The much-awaited nikah (wedding) of Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik would reportedly take place tonight and not on April 15!

Reports suggest that the wedding will be held at 7 pm at Sania Mirza’s residence in Hyderabad. The reception will be held on April 15 at the Taj Krishna hotel. Interestingly, it was at the same hotel that Sania was engaged to her childhood friend Sohrab Mirza on July 10 last year. Read more…

Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik ‘divorces first wife’

Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik is reported to have divorced an Indian woman, ahead of his planned marriage to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.

Imran Qadri, a community elder in the Indian city of Hyderabad, said Malik divorced Ayesha Siddiqui on Wednesday.

The Siddiqui family have now withdrawn a police complaint against Malik over his plans to wed Mirza, Mr Qadri said.

There was no immediate comment from Malik or Mirza. He had accused the Siddiqui family of deceiving him.

He also alleged that the marriage certificate presented by the family had been a fake.

On Monday, city police questioned Malik after Ayesha Siddiqui said she was already married to him. They seized his passport and told him to stay in India until they had investigated the matter. Read more…

Pakistani Army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani may not have hung a “Mission Accomplished” banner as he declared victory against the Taliban in South Waziristan, but he certainly struck a note of triumphalism. What he neglected to mention was that the battle hadn’t ended, it merely shifted to a new theater: Orakzai, a tribal agency further north of South Waziristan.

When the Pakistani military launched an operation in South Waziristan last October, residents were given a window to clear the area. The military’s desire to avoid civilian casualties was understandable and politically necessary, but it gave Taliban leaders an opportunity to walk right out of the war zone and set up camp in Orakzai.

The Pakistani Army has belatedly woken up to this reality and ramped up its offensive in Orakzai over the past couple of weeks. The tactics it has employed, however, are questionable. Perhaps fearing casualties and a loss of morale, ground troops are being used to supplement air power rather than the other way around. The successful Swat offensive last year relied heavily on ground troops, a strategy that has not been repeated in Orakzai.

Stationed troops are little more than sitting ducks for militants, who are going on the offensive against the army. On March 24, after 21 alleged militants were killed in an air strike in Orakzai, the Taliban lobbed four rockets at a security forces’ camp. The defensive posture of the army was highlighted the next day when, as reported in the Pashtu-language daily Wahdat, security forces repelled a militant attack in the Shanakha and Mir Bakht areas of Orakzai, killing nine suspected militants. With ground forces merely reacting to Taliban attacks and hoping aerial bombardment will do the heavy lifting of eliminating the militants, the Pakistani Army will only be successful in killing a fraction of fighters, without ever being able to clear the area.

Instead, the army seems satisfied with trying to box the militants in by strengthening check-posts at all entry and exit points in Orakzai. This was done after intelligence agencies found that militants in Orakzai were providing supplies to Taliban-allied militants across the country. As the string of suicide bombings in Pakistan over the last year has shown, however, checkpoints are not the most effective deterrent in restricting the movement of militants.

shoaib malik

MUMBAI – Hindu extremists have a plan or two up their sleeve for Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik.

The Indian tennis star has decided to marry the ex Pakistan cricket captain and this has not gone down well with Hindu extremists such as Shiv Sena, which has organised protest rallies all over India in which posters and effigies of the bride and groom were set alight.

Though the Sena does not have a good enough presence in Hyderabad it is doing everything possible to make its presence felt on the D Day of Sania’s marriage. It is believed that there would be a protest organized by the Sena in conjunction with many other Hindu extremist groups near the hotel where the marriage would take place.

Bal Thackeray is said to be fuming ever since the news of the marriage broke in the media earlier this week. Read more…

Toll in Lahore suicide attacks rises to 57
The toll in the twin suicide attacks in Lahore on Friday has risen to 57, even as seven low-intensity blasts late at night kept police on their toes for over eight hours.

Nine security personnel were among those killed in the suicide bombings that wreaked havoc in the cantonment area, injuring 136 people.

According to police, two suicide bombers blew themselves up near security forces’ vehicles in the RA Bazaar in the southern part of the cantonment, killing 57 people.

“The terrorists apparently changed their modus operandi in the…incident, as two suicide bombers carried out the blasts,” The News reported Saturday of the worst terrorist incident in the city.

“An interval of three minutes between the two attacks was a tactic devised by the terrorists to bring in more and more people to the site,” a security official said.

It was the second attack this week on security personnel in Lahore, which is considered the cultural hub of Pakistan. A car bombing hit a building housing the interrogation centre of a police intelligence agency Monday, killing 15 people and injuring around 70. Read more…

A twin suicide attack targeting Pakistani army vehicles in the eastern city of Lahore killed 20 people today, a senior police official said.

Umar Virk said about 35 were wounded. He said two explosions might have occurred.

The blast struck the RA Bazaar, which is in an area where several security agencies have offices.

It is the second time this week that Lahore has been hit by a bomb attack. The last one targeted a police interrogation centre, killing 13 people.

The attacks have shattered a period of relative calm in Pakistan, which has been battling al-Qaeda and Taliban violence
