National University (NU) matched defending champion Ateneo de Manila University’s immaculate 4-0 record on Saturday by ripping apart De La Salle-Zobel quintet, 74-62 to share the top spot in the 73rd UAAP juniors basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena.

Banking on its cerebral quarterbacking, hustle and quickness, NU ably neutralized the taller and heftier Junior Archers’ patented halfcourt trapping defense with a spate of fastbreak lay-ups, resulting in 30 transition points that proved too much for the visibly lost Season 72 runners-up who only managed 7 points in the entire third quarter. :Concordia University Texas and Leander ISD faculty and students soon venture to map and characterize numerous Concordia Preserve, a nature and the nature reserve for the land the university recently acquired. The reserve has not been explored extensively in well over a decade.
Concordia and 85,000 received a grant through the State Farm Youth Advisory Board in the spring that will finance a project for the reserves, and other service-learning activities. (more…)

Oakland Community colleges cash in on foreign students
Oakland Community College,Demand for higher education community is on the rise, but many institutions are detrimental both financially, reducing income tax on the property to leave them substantially hiking the fees.
“It’s devastating,” said Curtis Ivery, Chancellor of Wayne County Community College District, where tuition is growing 16% this year, with a $ 67.65 credit hour to $ 79 credit hours. There, the property tax revenue – a major source of funding – is projected to have declined by almost 20% from 2009 to 2010. (more…)

Last year’s Target Summer Pops concerts were a surprising delight, so it’s good to see Symphony Silicon Valley returning with the outdoor series later this month.

The series continues July 30 to Aug. 1 with concerts focusing on the salsa sounds of New York City, the ladies of Broadway and the “Hit Parade” sounds of the 1940s and ’50s. (more…)

Poincare Conjecture And Mathematics Complete Details
In mathematics, the Poincaré conjecture is a theorem about the characterization of the three-dimensional sphere among three-dimensional manifolds. Originally conjectured by Henri Poincaré, the claim concerns a space that locally looks like ordinary three-dimensional space but is connected, finite in size, and lacks any boundary (a closed 3-manifold). 43-year-old mathematician Grigory Perelman decided to reject a million dollar prize given to him by a U.S. institute. This was called the “Millennium Prize” by the Clay Mathematics Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Grigory Perelman, who lives with his mother in St. Petesburg was awarded the prize for proving of a theorem known as the Poincare conjecture. (more…)

Conelius Jones had hoped to arrive in Ann Arbor this summer and join what is already a crowded competition for Michigan’s starting quarterback job.

Jones will instead enroll at Fork Union Military School, his coach, Freddie Brown said Monday. But just because the timing of his planned enrollment at Michigan didn’t work out the way he anticipated, Jones’ allegiances remain with the Wolverines.
