TEHRAN (ISNA)-Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Chief Ali Akbar Salehi said Tuesday Bushehr nuclear power plant would be run in mid September.
“If nothing special happens and the process of reviewing equipment is fulfilled successfully, the facility is run in mid September and the fuel will be loaded into the reactor,” he told ISNA.
“The plant is undergoing the final sets of experiments for detection of any possible failure,” he said adding, “the preliminary phase will be completed in less than two weeks and the plant will be ready to be launched.”
Salehi then moved to upcoming fuel swap talks and expressed hope Iran and the Vienna Group (US, Russia, France and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would hold talks in next two weeks.
Salehi went on to say that Vienna hosts negotiations since the IAEA needs to pave the way for Iran’s access to fuel for Tehran’s research reactor.
The West had already rebuffed Iran’s offer for simultaneous fuel swap in Iranian soil.
Iran, Turkey and Brazil then signed Tehran declaration for fuel swap on May 17 after Iran’s talks with the Vienna Group over fuel exchange in October stalled.
